A sheet-like semi-finished intermediate in which chopped carbon fibre is compounded with a thermoplastic resin such as PA, PP or PC (for example a carbon fibre sheet moulding compound), supplied for direct compression moulding and combining the strength of carbon fibre with the recyclability of thermoplastics. Weight, thickness and width vary with the resin system, fibre content and end product, so the technical data sheet for the specific grade should be requested. Main applications are mass-produced compression-moulded parts such as lightweight automotive structural components and electronic or industrial parts.
