Carbon Fiber Knitted Fabrics

A multiaxial warp-knitted fabric (NCF) produced from carbon tows (commonly 12K/50K) in which several plies are stitched together in biaxial, triaxial or quadraxial directions by warp-knitting yarn. With no interlacing or crimp, the mechanical performance of the carbon fibre is used to the full. Typical total weights are 174–628 g/m², with about 2–8 g/m² of stitching yarn and 8–12 g/m² of binder, at a standard width of 1270 mm. It is used for high-performance composite parts in aerospace, automotive, bicycles, surfboards, helmets and construction strengthening.
