Complex Fiber Fabrics

A combined fibre fabric in which two or more fibre types (such as carbon, aramid and glass) are stitched or woven together in different ply directions, so a single fabric brings different fibre advantages into one part — the stiffness of carbon, the toughness of aramid, or the cost and insulation of glass. Weight, thickness and width depend on the fibre combination and lay-up design, so this is normally a made-to-order product whose parameters should be confirmed with the supplier. It is used mainly for marine, automotive, aerospace and high-performance sporting goods structures that must balance low weight, impact resistance and cost.
