Ar Glassfibre Chopped Strands

Alkali-resistant glass is drawn and cut to length to make chopped strands. Filament diameter is commonly 10–13 μm (13–17 μm for mat grades and 7–9 μm for needle mat), lengths are supplied in steps such as 3, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 mm, linear density is e.g. 98±10 tex, ZrO₂ content about 16.7%, moisture ≤0.2% and combustible matter 1.6±0.2%. It is the key reinforcement for GRC products such as drainage pipes, meter boxes and lightweight partition panels, and is also used in crack-resistant mortar, asphalt concrete and brake pads.
